Jessica Chastain Says She Does Not Agree With Apple’s Decision to Postpone ‘The Savant’

“We’re not aligned on the decision to pause the release,” Chastain wrote on Instagram, adding that she hopes it receives a release date soon.

Apple TV+ has indefinitely postponed the release of Jessica Chastain’s new limited series The Savant, a decision the Oscar-winning actress says she does not support.

The thriller series was originally scheduled to premiere on September 26. Apple announced the delay citing “general reasons” but did not provide further explanation.

Responding on social media, Chastain said: “I respect Apple, but I do not agree with this decision. The message of The Savant is more urgent than ever. I never shy away from difficult subjects.”

In The Savant, Chastain plays an undercover investigator who infiltrates online hate groups to prevent acts of violence. The show is based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan investigative article.

The postponement has sparked debate. Analysts suggest Apple may be trying to avoid potential backlash in a politically sensitive climate. No new release date has yet been announced.
