Millie Bobby Brown may soon be stepping into one of the most iconic roles of her career. According to industry reports, the Stranger Things star is in talks to play American gymnast Kerri Strug in Netflix’s upcoming biopic Perfect, directed by Gia Coppola.

The film will dramatize Strug’s unforgettable performance at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Despite suffering a serious ankle injury during the women’s team final, Strug delivered a near-perfect vault that secured the U.S. women’s gymnastics team their first-ever Olympic gold medal. The moment became a defining chapter in Olympic history and turned Strug into an instant national hero.


Perfect has been in development for several years, with Coppola attached to direct since its early stages. The project was originally linked to other studios before finding its home at Netflix. Coppola, best known for films like Palo Alto and Mainstream, is expected to bring a visually distinctive and emotionally layered approach to the story.

For Brown, the role represents another major milestone in her growing career. Since her breakout success in Stranger Things, she has led multiple Netflix projects including the Enola Holmes films and this year’s fantasy adventure Damsel. Taking on the role of Strug would not only require physical training but also the challenge of capturing the determination and grit that made the gymnast a cultural icon.


While talks are still underway and the cast has not been officially confirmed, anticipation is already building around the project. A production start date and release schedule have yet to be announced by Netflix.
