Biden Begins Radiation Therapy for Aggressive Prostate Cancer
Former president’s care enters a new phase with combined radiation and hormone treatment.
Washington, D.C., (insert date) —
Former President Joe Biden has begun a course of radiation therapy alongside ongoing hormone treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer, a spokesperson confirmed on Saturday.
Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones; medical updates released at the time described the disease as aggressive and hormone-sensitive. The radiation regimen is expected to run for about five weeks, according to the spokesperson’s statement and reporting by major outlets. A White House (post-presidential) spokesperson said the treatments are part of a broader, coordinated plan of care and that Biden is receiving standard-of-care therapy appropriate to his diagnosis.
Those close to the former president told reporters that he is “doing well” and responding to treatment, a person familiar with the matter said. Earlier this year, Biden underwent Mohs surgery to remove skin cancer lesions from his forehead; his medical history in recent months has included several such procedures and regular physician checkups.
